- Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council is committed to raising awareness of domestic abuse (DA), ensuring the organisation is setup to recognise and respond, through its practices, policies and procedures. There are two innovative new DA roles being introduced into the Housing and Social Inclusion team, designed to work together to cover both operational and strategic responses to domestic abuse in the borough.
We are looking for an experienced individual to be the principal and technical practitioner on DA, this is a new role within the council, and an exciting opportunity for the candidate to develop the current corporate DA offer, continuing to ensure DA training and awareness is at the forefront of service delivery for local residents.
This role is based in the council’s committed and sector-leading Housing and Homelessness team, however will be required to work as the corporate lead across the organisation, embedding best practice and shared learning, delivering specialist briefings and working with council members.
You will work to ensure that the organisation is meeting all obligations and commitments around DA, including coordinating and maintaining accreditations such as White Ribbon. Representing the council internally and externally on DA issues, liaising with stakeholders, and ensuring the council’s DA response and offer to residents is at a high standard and in line with all appropriate legislation and priorities from central government.
This role will be responsible for proactively seeking funding and opportunities around DA initiatives, furthering the agenda in the borough and beyond, championing the work we do at regional and national level.
