Job description

About
This hybrid role offers a great balance of home and office working. You’ll join your colleagues in your local office at least 1 day a week.

As the UK’s largest fibre-only network, and its only proven wholesale challenger, we’re busy setting new standards for what digital infrastructure can and should be.

Designed from scratch for the internet, our network is greener, more reliable and ready for the future. The products we provide over it not only lead the market on speed, value and service, they help businesses to innovate, provide entire communities with a better foundation for their digital lives and support economic growth, locally and nationally.

What does that mean for you? The opportunity to make internet connections (and daily life) a whole lot better, for a lot of people!

Joining us as a Senior Network Automation Engineer

You will play a vital role in delivering meaningful, reliable automation that provides our customers with best-in-class digital infrastructure and superfast broadband. As we continue to deliver our full fibre networks at pace across the UK, you will help us build solutions to enable the wider Engineering function to scale and maintain our network to achieve our strategic 2025 vision.

You’ll receive a competitive salary, a performance related bonus, and a range of benefits to support you across your financial, physical and mental wellbeing.

This is some of what you can expect to be doing:

Interpreting internal or external business requirements to understand opportunities for automation and building scalable solutions

Solving complex problems; taking a broad perspective to identify solutions

Leading functional teams or projects in an Agile manner and serving as a best practice/quality resource

Developing solutions that consume and emit data alongside external systems using REST APIs

Building, maintaining, and extending our suite of automation tools using Ansible, AWX, and Python

What you’ll bring to the role

You’ll have previous experience working in an ISP, Service Provider, or Carrier environment in an Engineering or Development capacity. You’ll also have:

Specialist depth and breadth of network engineering expertise, especially multi-vendor-based networks of scale

Demonstrable experience of working with automation frameworks including Ansible and AWX alongside Git and Netconf

Prior experience of programming using Python to build automated delivery solutions

Highly developed analytical skills, able to demonstrate the ability to lead technical discussions and influence technical strategy
