About

We are inviting applicants for the post of Ophthalmic Imaging Technician to join our team in assisting in the delivery of a high-quality ophthalmic imaging and diagnostic service to Oxford Eye Hospital.
Working in a friendly, modern environment you’ll carry out ophthalmic technical and imaging procedures including OCT, fundus photography, corneal topography, spectacle focimetry, visual field testing, visual acuity assessment, intraocular pressure testing and pupil dilatation.
Applicants must have previous experience with Humphrey visual field (HVF) testing and/or ophthalmic imaging procedures. They should also have a basic understanding of human anatomy and be willing to develop their theoretical and practical knowledge.
Candidates will be expected to be comfortable working with people and have excellent communication skills. They should be computer literate and be familiar with database management. Applicants should be prepared to undertake the Certificate of Higher Education in OCT Capture.
The general working hours for the position are 09:00-17:00 Monday – Friday. The post does include some Saturday working.

• To assist in the delivery of core ophthalmic clinical technical and imaging services to Oxford Eye Hospital.
• To be a member of the Imaging & Diagnostic team, contributing to the
effective quality care of patients, respecting and maintaining confidentiality in all matters relating to the department and patients.
• To support the Head of Department in service development, ensuring that high clinical standards are maintained.
• To undertake administration, data processing and clinical audit when required.
• The post holder will develop the knowledge and skills to deliver individual patient care to the standards defined by the OUH protocols and policies.
• To have a working knowledge of computer systems and programmes.
• To maintain their own professional development (CPD) under the supervision of an Ophthalmic Imaging Specialist within the department (mentor).
• Any other duties at the request of the Head of Department or Directorate Management team.

You will be a key part of the friendly Ophthalmic Diagnostics Team working both at Oxford Eye Hospital and peripheral sites. The work will be varied and at all times patient care will be a priority.
