Unqualified Teacher / Aspiring SEN Teacher
Location: Leicestershire

Specialist SEN & Alternative Provision (Autism‑specific)
Are you an aspiring teacher or an experienced educator without QTS, looking for a long‑term role in a calm, structured and specialist education setting?
We are recruiting Unqualified Teachers to join a specialist education provider in Leicestershire, supporting children and young people aged 4–19 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and associated needs. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking a supported pathway into SEN teaching with strong training, stability and progression.
About the Setting:
You will work within small, specialist school environments designed to provide safety, consistency and routine. Pupils follow individualised timetables, learn in small groups and are supported through a therapeutic, autism‑informed approach. The focus is on wellbeing first, enabling pupils to re‑engage with learning, develop independence and build confidence.
The Role
As an Unqualified Teacher, you will:
-Deliver pre‑planned lessons in line with individual education plans
-Teach small groups of pupils, not large mainstream classes
-Adapt learning to meet the needs of autistic pupils and those with additional needs
-Promote emotional regulation and positive behaviour using trauma‑informed strategies
-Work closely with qualified teachers, therapists and pastoral staff
-Monitor progress and contribute to academic and pastoral planning
-Build consistent, trusting relationships and act as a positive role model
Who This Role Is For
This opportunity is ideal for:
-Graduates or career‑changers without QTS
-Teaching Assistants, Learning Mentors or Support Workers ready to step up
-Individuals considering future SEN teacher training
-Candidates passionate about autism‑specific education
-Those seeking long‑term, stable roles rather than short‑term supply
You Should Be:
-Calm, patient and emotionally resilient
-Confident leading learning activities in small group settings
-Adaptable and child‑centred in your approach
-Committed to safeguarding and inclusive practice
-Keen to develop through specialist training and CPD
What’s on Offer
-Permanent or long‑term roles in Leicestershire
-Comprehensive induction and SEN‑specific training
-Ongoing CPD supported by experienced leadership
-Clear progression opportunities, including internal teacher development pathways
-Term‑time working and strong emphasis on staff wellbeing
-The opportunity to make a real, lasting difference
