Department for Transport (DfT) works with our agencies and partners to support the transport network that helps the UK’s businesses and gets people and goods travelling around the country. We plan and invest in transport infrastructure to keep the UK on the move. The Service Manager for the Digital Workplace is positioned within the Live Services team within the Digital, Information and Security directorate. The Live Services team provide management of all live digital, data and technology services and support the continuous operational development of the services and performance targets.The Service Manager position is a varied and dynamic role, and it is not possible to characterise a standard day. The role is varied and fast-paced and you will work in collaboration with other service mangers within Digital Services to ensure a joined-up approach, you will be responsible for;Ensuring the delivery, and provision of support for digital workplace products and servicesMonitoring and managing day-to-day issues as they arise, monitoring and meeting agreed service performance levelsDrafting management information in the form of dashboards, reports and briefings and correspondence as well leading on the contract management of digital workplace services.Leading on project reporting and management of risk, ensuring delivery of contractual obligations and managing the mechanisms and processes of contracts on a day-to-day basis. There will be the ability to develop an understanding of contractual drivers to consider financial, legal and commercial implications. Duties and responsibilitiesManage the day-to-day contractual relationship for Service Delivery ensuring that the delivery of obligations is monitored through to completion and that appropriate auditability is in place.Contributing to continual improvement and innovation of live services, implementing changes and new products and services, by applying collaborative ways of working across the Digital Service, enabling beneficial changes to be made with minimum disruption to the services.Managing relationships with digital, data and technology internal and external suppliers, developing collaborative working relationships.Build up an expert knowledge of Service Delivery contracts and relevant processes. Using this knowledge to effectively manage contracts on a day-to-day basis.Proactively address day-to-day commercial issues as they arise and provide advice to senior colleagues on emerging risks to the delivery of contract commitments.Work in partnership with colleagues to manage changes, ensuring proper and accurate records of these are maintained.Provide advice and briefings, developing and presenting evidenced-based recommendations.Continuously building and developing the required skills and capabilities of people within their own area.
